Laxadagen is the day when fishing in the River Lagan is free of charge. It is held annually on the third Sunday of September.
A special free fishing permit can be collected between 08:00 and 10:00 at the starting point, Gröningen.
Any salmon caught must be brought to Rökeriet Restaurant. Afterwards, a prize ceremony is held where, among other prizes, the angler who catches the largest salmon of the day wins a season permit for the following year, a glass trophy, a fishing rod, and a reel.
The competition is organized by SFK Abborren in cooperation with Laholms Laxfiske.
In 2026, Laxadagen takes place on Sunday, 20 September.
